Review: Jenn Im's EGGIE Summer Collection 2018 - The Amalie Top
Monday 11 June 2018 at June 11, 2018
My first clothing review of Jenn Im's (also used to be known as 'clothesencounters' on Youtube) clothing line, Eggie, went down pretty well the previous time, probably mainly due to the bad experience I had. I also uploaded a fashion haul on my Youtube channel where I talked about my experience as well and Jenn actually commented on my video (click here and here to see the comment and my reply)! So today, I thought I'd do a part two to update you guys about my experience shopping on Eggie, as well as talk about the new pieces I bought.

Eggie's latest summer collection launched on the 1st of June and it is by far my favourite collection from Eggie. I love off the shoulder cuts, and so I was pleased to find out that this collection has a handful of off the shoulder pieces for me to choose. Although, from a business's point of view, I'm not sure if the saturated amount of off the shoulder pieces is a good thing because not everyone loves off the shoulder tops and dresses, and how many off the shoulder clothes can you get? I personally won't buy more than 2 pieces in one sitting. Even though I love many of the pieces such as the Criss Cross Top in Yellow, the Orchid Dress, the Just Peachy Bodysuit, the Poppy Bodysuit, and the White Stripe Pants, again, I felt like they were pretty expensive and the designs don't really make them "investment pieces". Most of the pieces were a little bit too revealing for me as well, like the Camila Jumpsuit which I would totally buy it if it weren't for its excessive bare back design.

The red/orange Amalie top first caught my attention because I'm currently loving the colour orange and peach, especially since it's summer. I initially planned to get the Amalie Top in red/orange and the Bella Blouse, but after much consideration, I finally settled with two Amalie tops, in orange, and white.

The package came quicker than I expected, which is the same for my previous 2 orders (I also ordered the Spot Top a few weeks ago when it became on sale). They all came within 5 working days which is great! The only thing that's still lacking is the tracking number. For all my packages, I've never received a single tracking number and the standard "your package has been shipped!" email, is always late, i.e. I always receive the e-mail after I've received my package.

Similar to all my other orders, this package came with a zip lock pouch with a "Thanks Eggie" card in it. It's cute, but now that I have 3 successful orders in total, I have 3 of these zip lock pouch and cards and I don't really know what to do with them. I'm currently trying to be more environmental-conscious, so I did feel like this additional thing is a waste since you can't really do anything with it. Instead of the plain "Thanks Eggie" card, I feel like a set of stickers would be better because at least you can still use them for something.

I ordered the Amalie tops in XS, because previously I got the Busan Top and Marie Shorts in S and they were too big for me. But after placing my order, I watched Jenn's Eggie Haul and she mentioned that this top has a smaller cut and we should size-up... This is why I strongly feel that Eggie should really have accurate measurements on their website rather than a rough estimate "sizing guide chart". After watching her vlog, I was a little worried that it wouldn't fit me since Jenn wears an S for the Amalie top.

The Amelie top has a cute and neat lace details at the front, ruffles on the neckline and straps, and it also has a short babydoll flare at the bottom which I think makes it look super feminine, sexy, yet cute at the same time. The top has a pretty long concealed zipper at the side because the material is non-stretchy and so you wouldn't be able to fit into it without unzipping.

I. Struggled. So. Much. Trying to zip it back up. I think it took me a good whole 10 minutes struggling and at one point I even thought XS was probably too small for me that's why it wouldn't zip back up. I tried to remove the top after trying for so long and it sounded like it was about to rip apart! Finally, I managed to zip it back up and it didn't feel as tight as I thought it would so I guess the zip is just... Lousy? I don't know. But it's definitely not because XS is too small for me as even when I was trying to zip it up, it's not like I had to hold my breath in or anything, there was sufficient "space" between the top and my body.

The only area that felt a little tight was my chest area, so if you have bigger boobs (I'm a B), or if you're planning to wear this with push-up bras or something, you definitely need to size up! Because the chest area is a little tight, I think it kinda made my boobs smaller, but personally, I don't really care about boob sizes so this isn't a huge issue for me.

Jenn mentioned that the straps are loose so they're "meant to fall over", but I'm not a big fan of the "fall over straps" look for the orange piece (the white one is still looks okay with the straps down, don't ask me why, I don't know). Overall, I love this top so much! The material is rather thick for a summer top, but I think that makes it looks and feels more like a corset. I can definitely see myself wearing both colours often and I think both would look lovely with denim jeans which is my current go-to bottoms. My favourite part about this top is definitely the mini ruffle details at the neckline.

8 Essential Beauty Products for the Beach!
Monday 4 June 2018 at June 04, 2018
It's summer! Which means it's time to bake yourself under the scorching sun while soft sand find their way in between your toes, and your ears feast upon the therapeutic sound of waves crashing. In other words. it's time to hit up the beach!

I am going on a beach holiday soon and I cannot be more thrilled! If I had to pick one ideal type of holiday, it'll definitely be a beach holiday for me. Since it's summertime, aka the best time to head to the beach, I thought I'd share with you 8 essential beauty products I will be bringing along with me on my beach holiday so we can all have a smashing good time at the beach.

The most important item comes first, and that is obviously sunscreen. I will never step out onto the beach without sunscreen on because 1. "harmful UV rays" is probably an official term by now, and 2. I hate getting tanned! So far, I've tried out a number of different types of sunscreen and I can conclude that my favourite is definitely a spray-on sunscreen. It's easy and quick to apply as you can cover every inch of your body with a layer of sunscreen without needing to physically rub it in. Nobody likes wasting time applying sunscreen, we want to enjoy the beach!

So for my choice of sunscreen, I have decided to go along with the La Roche-Posay Anthelios Dermo-Pediatrics SPF 50+ Multi-Position Spray which is made specially for intense sun exposure due to its high protection against UVA and UVB rays. It is dermatology-tested on very sensitive skin, which makes this not only suitable for adults, but even kids, and infants. If you're going to be in and out of the water, fret not, as this sunscreen is also water resistant. To ensure consistent sun protection, it is recommended to frequently re-apply your sunscreen especially after swimming, perspiring, and toweling. Thankfully, the spray nozzle makes the application process a total breeze due to the fine distribution of product you get with each pump. Unlike lotion sunscreens where you'll need to apply at least 20 minutes before, this spray-on sunscreen can be applied just before sun exposure which is great if you're forgetful like me. Since this isn't a lotion sunscreen, remember to spray this on your hair as well to protect it from drying out under the sun! Overall, I love that this doesn't leave my skin feeling sticky or oily, because that's the last thing I'd want to feel at the beach.

Regardless of how late I am for work, I will never leave the house without sunscreen on my face, and that's probably why my face is like 3 shades lighter than the rest of my body. That said, if there's anywhere on my body that needs extra sun protection, it's my face. If applying sunscreen on your face is still considered a chore for you, then you might want to switch your moisturiser for something that has SPF.

The Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream with SPF 30 is a smooth, lightweight moisturiser with SPF 30 to ensure up to 24-hours hydration as well as protection against UVA and UVB. I love that it sits well under makeup, has a non-greasy texture, and does not leave a white cast on my face. If I have to point out something I dislike about this product though, it's definitely the scent, because it does smells like your typical sunscreen.

Sun protection for our face, hair, and body, checked. We're left with one more body part to protect, our lips! Because chapped lips looks good, said no one ever. Awarded as one of InStyle's Best Beauty Buys in 2014, the delicious-smelling Sugar Tulip Lip Treatment from Fresh is infused with a blend of nourishing oils such as black currant seed oils and grape seed oils to help smooth, soften, and provide moisture your lips for up till 6 hours!

Of course, since we're talking about sunscreens, it also has SPF 15 to protect your lips from the sun. My favourite point about this lip treatment other than the yummy sweet and fruity scent, is the sheer hot pink tint it gives my lips as it looks very natural and not too loud for the beach. With this one product, I can touch up my lip colour, protect it from the sun, and moisturize it all at once! Do take note that this lippie is extremely soft and buttery, so try not to let it sit under the hot sun for too long!

Bad hair days = bad days. With the sea breeze blowing in all directions, it's tough to keep your hair looking as fresh and on point as it was when you left the house. To prevent my hair from turning into a huge mess at the beach, I like to prep it beforehand with the Living Proof No Frizz Weightless Spray.

This hair spray keeps my hair so smooth, soft and manageable by nourishing and conditioning it with it's special formula without weighing it down. I also love that it has a very mild fresh fragrance to keep my hair smelling good. Fun fact, this hair spray also won a spot on the 2013 Nylon, Beauty Hit List!

Bad hair days = bad days, and the easiest way to keep your hair looking great is by using a comb. Of course, if you're at a beach, you're bound to get wet hair, so in this case, a comb that's suitable for wet hair. I absolutely love my Tangle Teezer. Since I have thick and unruly hair, combing my hair can be such a pain in my ass, but not with my Tangle Teezer. Suitable for wet and dry hair, I love bringing it with me to the gym so I can easily brush out my wet hair after I'm out of the shower.

For my beach holiday, I decided to try the Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash The Water-Loving Detangling Hairbrush which is more suitable to use at seasides and even during, yes during, showers and swimming! As you can see, the design looks vastly different from the original Tangle Teezer and that is to enable a firmer grip for when using in water. I find that apart from the new design and the ability to use this in water, this works just as well as my Tangle Teezer in detangling my hair without pulling on my scalp.

If I'm on a holiday, it means that I'll be vlogging, and I'll be taking loads of pictures. So there's literally no way you'll see me 100% bare faced at the beach. When I'm at a hot and humid place like the beach, I refrain from caking on too much makeup because it'll all melt away and start to look streaky, therefore, my favourite type of makeup to apply would be a no-makeup makeup look. Applying light makeup to slightly boost my features not only gives me confidence, but it also makes such a big difference on camera!

So the first essential makeup product I need to help me achieve that no-makeup makeup look is cheek and lip tints. I have two here which I absolutely love and I can't pick between because I find the both of them so suitable for the beach!

The first one is none other than Benefit's Benetint. This is one of the first cheek and lip tint in the market and it's still going strong! I've tried numerous lip tints, especially from Korean brands, but nothing beats the formula of the Benetint. It's super watery and sheer which is great for controlling the intensity of the shade.

Most lip tints from Korea tend to be thick and pigmented which is usable as a lip tint, but not so much as a cheek tint. I often find myself struggling to blend them out on my cheeks due to the thick formula, and I'm often left with uneven looking, hot pink cheeks. With the sheer formula of the Benetint, creating natural rosy cheeks is made easy, and I love that I can also apply a light layer on my lips just to give my natural lip colour an extra boost.

The other lip tint is Benefit's Cha Cha Tint which has a slightly texture consistency as compared to the Benetint. But nevertheless, its sheer pigmentation makes it as easy to create natural flushes and even cheeks. The Cha Cha Tint comes in a milky orange shade which is perfect for completing that tropical summertime look and I think it looks gorgeous when used together with Benetint!

My favourite point about both tints is that they are waterproof, kiss-proof, smudge-proof, and budge-proof! Which means I can spend all day on the beach, without worrying that my makeup has faded away.

On good days, I can get away without the use of a foundation, a powder, and a concealer. But on camera, even on best days, without base makeup, I'll just look flat and 2D which is not what I want to look like in my summer holiday vlogs and photos. Therefore, to give my skin that extra boost it needs, I will be using the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in the shade Opal.

This product is an intense liquid highlight (so be mindful of how much you use!) that will give your face all the glow and dimensions it'll ever need. I have chosen the shade Opal as it is a warm, golden shade which I think is the perfect sun-kissed shade for my warm skintone. You can choose to apply a pea sized amount on your entire face and blending it out with a brush for an overall sun-kissed glow, or, simply use this like you would for your regular highlight, concentrating on areas like your cheekbones, tip of your nose, cupid's bow, and brow bone.

I cannot emphasis how shimmery and glowy this made my skin look and it will work perfectly on your body too!
