Review: Zoella x Colourpop

Another makeup haul?

Mmm well, basically... One of my favourite Youtubers, Zoella, collaborated with one of my favourite makeup brand, Colourpop, and if that's not a good enough reason to shop then I don't know what is.

On the launch day itself, I snagged myself a few items from the new, and absolutely adorable, Brunch Date collection because even though I really need to stop buying makeup, how can I miss out on these limited edition products! I wanna start by saying that I didn't get the eyeshadow palette which I know to most people, is the main thing. But for me, an eyeshadow palette is that one thing I have in excess and since most of the colours are neutrals, I'm pretty sure I have a dupe for every shade (minus the blue), lying around somewhere. I also didn't get any of the liquid lippies because if you know me, then you'll know that I seldom wear liquid lipsticks.

So, what did I get? I got a total of 6 products from the collection as I didn't want to overspend on unnecessary makeup, so I made sure that these are the products I will use frequently.

Starting with the only non-makeup item, the Brunch Date Makeup Bag. I'm not gonna lie, this is one of the things I was most excited to get. I think I just have a thing for transparent pouches these days or maybe just makeup pouches in general, and the fact that this one is huge and has a really cute print just makes it irresistible to me! One of the main reasons why I've been obsessed with pouches is because I go to the gym and I always love carrying my skincare products and conditioner with me in a pouch. Therefore, I love that this makeup pouch is waterproof which makes it perfect for storing toiletries and skincare products.

The highlight of this bag is the way it closes. The baby pink buttons makes it look so retro and I think that's what makes it different from most of the makeup pouches in the market at the moment. I'm actually travelling (again) really soon, so I'm definitely bringing this with me too!

Now on to the makeup products, first of all, I got the Supernova Shadow duo set which is called Group Hug (aww, cute). This set consists of 2 liquid eyeshadows, OG, and Bellini which you can purchase separately. I decided to go for the set because how cute is the carton box I love liquid eyeshadows but I feel like I don't have enough of them.

This is also the first time I'm trying out Colourpop's liquid eyeshadow and my verdict on it? It's as good as all their eyeshadows. If you haven't tried liquid eyeshadows, you need to try it. Especially if you're into shimmers and glitters! They are surprisingly easy to use, so versatile (I've used both as a highlight for my cupid's bow too!), and the best thing is you don't need any other applicators or brush. Just use your fingers! One swipe was all it takes for me and I especially love using this in the morning because it's quick and easy to apply on and lasts the entire day. (swatches available below!)

The shade OG is a cool toned bronze-champagne shade which honestly just looks like the typical shade to apply on your inner corners or lower lash line. I personally love applying a light layer of this on my lower lash line, especially when I don't have much makeup on because it really helps brighten up my eyes.

Bellini is a rose gold glitter and you bet I am going to use this so often. This makes the perfect base for every spring look. If I'm going for a simple look, I'll just use this either on its own or with a medium brown shade on my outer corners to define my eyes. If I wanna go for something heavier, I'll add in some mauve pink and burnt red shadows to the mix! All in all, this is definitely one of my favourite from the collection. Once it has set in place, you're good to go as it's 100% smudge-proof!

The next, and final eye product I got is the Sincerely Yours Gel Liner. I can never get enough of dark brown pencil liners and so I'm always on a hunt for good and affordable ones! This one checks all the boxes for me. Yay! First off, this gel liner is pigmented which is a crucial point for me because I mainly use them on both my upper and lower waterline and you know how sensitive those areas can be! You wouldn't want to be going over those areas again and again and again. Secondly, this gel liner is transfer-proof, smudge-proof and water-proof so you don't have to worry about looking like a member of a punk band from the early 2000s at the end of the day. Finally, it's in a gorgeous chocolate brown shade with gold flecks of glitter to spice things up. If I have to point out one thing I dislike about this pencil, it would be the fact that you can't retract the pencil back in once you've twisted it out.

(L-R: OG, Bellini, Sincerely Yours)

Moving on to our final 2 products, I've got both the face products because damn, apparently I really could not resist cute packaging!? Just look at these products with that egg yolk heart and baby pink packaging!!!! And they both come with mirrors!! Well I mean, I haven't used highlighters in awhile so maybe this is the time to start getting back into them!

Beginning with the blush, this one's called Soul Mate and it's a soft pink shade that's buildable to your liking. Anything with peachy tones wins my heart which is why even before trying this out as Zoella mentioned that it's a coral-pink shade. However, I personally find that it lacks of orange tones so it's more of a baby pink shade to me. Nevertheless, this shade is so sweet and perfect for spring time.

Unlike the Nars Orgasm blush, the Soul Mate blush does not contain any glitter which is why if you want that extra glow, you gotta top it off with a highlighter! Our final Zoella x Colourpop product is the Swipe Right Pressed Powder Highlighter which has matching pinky tones in it to go with the Soul Mate blush. This highlighter has a holographic look which is something I don't have so yay to something new in my collection! I think the 2 face products have the perfect pigmentation because it's sheer, one swipe is just the right amount for me.

And that sums up all the products I got from the Zoella x Colourpop collection! Remember, like all collaborations Colourpop does, this is a limited edition collection which means once it's gone,... It's gone! So if you're interested to check out what else there are in this collection or if you're interested to try any of the products I introduced here, make sure to do so before it runs out! Review: iluvsarahii x Colourpop Through My Eyes Palette
Friday, 22 March 2019 at March 22, 2019
Wanting to try other shades of eyeshadows apart from pink, red, orange and yellow, I decided to hop onto Colourpop's website to find new shades to play around with. Browsing through their extensive collection of eyeshadow palettes, the iluvsarahii x Colourpop Through My Eyes palette instantly caught my attention.

New year, same flow. I'm going to begin chatting about the packaging first because, isn't this one finely packaged palette? As expected from Colourpop, it's nothing too complicated which I actually appreciate because that means it'll be very lightweight and travel-friendly, but at the same time, it's a little different from the other palettes that I own from Colourpop. First of all, it comes with a huge mirror which is not a common thing in Colourpop's eyeshadow palettes. Next, they've also printed the names of the shades inside the palette, again, something that's uncommon for Colourpop's palettes. I also love the overall whimsical vibe of the whole palette with the dark shades of greens and reflective gold.

This palette is so far my biggest Colourpop eyeshadow palette as it contains 16 shades in total. Although in a glance, most of the shades looks like shades that I'm very comfortable with, I love that it also has a wide selection of shades that I don't normally go for! I don't think I even have those shades in my makeup collection!

I've had this palette for over a month now and I just can't stop going back to it despite ordering a good amount of eyeshadows from Colourpop. My favourite shades are Wild Soul - a warm-toned mustard shade which is perfect if you're still trying to get into the yellow eyeshadow trend from last year, Mesmer-Eyez - a metallic orangey gold shade which is no doubt one of the shades I use the most, Nostalgia - a dusty mauve rose shade that's very similar to my Etude house single eyeshadow that I've been obsessed with for many months in 2018, and finally Missbehave - a dark yet rich wine shade.

Other than those shades, I'm also really excited to try out some of the more unique shades in this palette such as Emerald Green - a really bright and bold cool toned green, and Lomo - another bright and bold neon red shade! Once again, the pigmentation of Colourpop's eyeshadows never fails to impress. Just look at how intense the swatches are (at the end of this post), and this is just one swipe of the eyeshadow! For similar quality and quantity of eyeshadows, this could easily be sold at S$60 or above if it was from a brand that's selling in Sephora, but this palette is retailing at only US$23 (~S$32).

Overall, I think this palette is worth the money spent and great if you're planning to venture out of neutral shades as this palette does not contain much neutral shades like brown and nudes, but at the same times, most of the shades are super wearable for any occasions. With 16 versatile and very different shades, you don't have to worry about repeating the same looks over and over again. I've so far featured this eyeshadow palettes in a couple of my Youtube videos, so check them out if you'd like to see how I include the shades in different eye looks.
