Review: iluvsarahii x Colourpop Through My Eyes Palette

Wanting to try other shades of eyeshadows apart from pink, red, orange and yellow, I decided to hop onto Colourpop's website to find new shades to play around with. Browsing through their extensive collection of eyeshadow palettes, the iluvsarahii x Colourpop Through My Eyes palette instantly caught my attention.
New year, same flow. I'm going to begin chatting about the packaging first because, isn't this one finely packaged palette? As expected from Colourpop, it's nothing too complicated which I actually appreciate because that means it'll be very lightweight and travel-friendly, but at the same time, it's a little different from the other palettes that I own from Colourpop. First of all, it comes with a huge mirror which is not a common thing in Colourpop's eyeshadow palettes. Next, they've also printed the names of the shades inside the palette, again, something that's uncommon for Colourpop's palettes. I also love the overall whimsical vibe of the whole palette with the dark shades of greens and reflective gold.
This palette is so far my biggest Colourpop eyeshadow palette as it contains 16 shades in total. Although in a glance, most of the shades looks like shades that I'm very comfortable with, I love that it also has a wide selection of shades that I don't normally go for! I don't think I even have those shades in my makeup collection!
I've had this palette for over a month now and I just can't stop going back to it despite ordering a good amount of eyeshadows from Colourpop. My favourite shades are Wild Soul - a warm-toned mustard shade which is perfect if you're still trying to get into the yellow eyeshadow trend from last year, Mesmer-Eyez - a metallic orangey gold shade which is no doubt one of the shades I use the most, Nostalgia - a dusty mauve rose shade that's very similar to my Etude house single eyeshadow that I've been obsessed with for many months in 2018, and finally Missbehave - a dark yet rich wine shade.
Other than those shades, I'm also really excited to try out some of the more unique shades in this palette such as Emerald Green - a really bright and bold cool toned green, and Lomo - another bright and bold neon red shade! Once again, the pigmentation of Colourpop's eyeshadows never fails to impress. Just look at how intense the swatches are (at the end of this post), and this is just one swipe of the eyeshadow! For similar quality and quantity of eyeshadows, this could easily be sold at S$60 or above if it was from a brand that's selling in Sephora, but this palette is retailing at only US$23 (~S$32).
Overall, I think this palette is worth the money spent and great if you're planning to venture out of neutral shades as this palette does not contain much neutral shades like brown and nudes, but at the same times, most of the shades are super wearable for any occasions. With 16 versatile and very different shades, you don't have to worry about repeating the same looks over and over again. Review: SOME BY MI Makeup (Cushion + Eyeshadow + Lipstick)

Weeks back, I received some skincare and makeup products from SOME BY MI which is a relatively popular non-mainstream Korean beauty brand. I have since uploaded my review of their skincare products, so today, I will be reviewing their makeup products and on top of that, I will also show you how I create a simple Korean inspired look that is easy to follow, even for beginners!
Before we dive into the individual products, we have to take a moment to appreciate the sweet packaging of their makeup line. When I received these products, I posted them on my Instagram story and I got so many DMs telling me how adorable and pretty they look, and all I can say is, I know right?! The medium bubblegum pink goes so well with the gold accents so unless you have a strong dislike for the colour pink, I think it's almost impossible to not love the packaging of these products.
Now starting with the very first makeup product, we have the Fruit Juice Set. Retailing at only 39,800 won (about S$45), this set comprises of 1 x Cushion Foundation, 2 x Single Eyeshadows and 1 x Lipstick. SOME BY MI offers a couple of cushion foundations, but the one included in this set is their Something Maxi Glam Cover Cushion.
As usual, having medium skintone, I went ahead and got the darkest shade which is C23. This cushion comes with SPF 50+ and has a medium coverage that is sufficient to even out any skin discoloration, light spots and acne scars. If you have darker scars, I believe you will be able to build up the coverage by adding a second layer, but I personally prefer spot-concealing with a concealer.
This foundation has a semi-matte finish and it also has hints of pink undertones which I love as it was able to effectively tone up my skin.
Moving on to the single eyeshadows included in the set, we have a pearl shimmer shade as well as a medium brown shimmer which are two must-have shades in your eyeshadow collection! I especially love the pearl shimmer shade as it has a pink undertone, making it very feminine and soft. It's also not a glitter shade so you can also use it as a highlight if you'd like.
Continuing with eyeshadows, I have the Some Pick eyeshadow palette which comprises of 4 gorgeous and essential shades. The first shade is a champagne shimmer which can be used as our inner eye, brow bone, and aegyo-sal highlight. The second shade is my favourite and current go-to eyeshadow and that is a rose gold shimmer. The third shade is probably my second favourite and it is this cool, matte brown shade which is perfect for shading and contour purposes. Finally, the last shade is a dark brown shimmer which can be used to line and define our eyes. I love how compact this eyeshadow palette is, as I was able to fit this into my makeup pouch without any difficulties.
I am overall pleasantly surprised and impressed with the quality of their eyeshadows because despite being so affordable, their eyeshadows are so incredible soft, easy to blend, pigmented and buttery!
The last product is the Something Moisture Lip Rouge lipstick in Grapefruit and I am obsessed with this! I've been loving orange lipsticks, and you guys know I love my pinks and corals, so this pinky-orangey lipstick is literally the perfect shade for me at the moment!
It has a moisturizing and buttery texture which I love as it makes my lips look so plump and supple. As it has moisturizing properties, the pigmentation is not as intense as a matte liquid lipstick, so I love that it creates a very natural and soft look which is suitable for everyday use.
As mentioned, I have used these products to create a simple Korean inspired makeup look and I even spoke in Korean for my voiceover! I am obsessed with this look, I've been wearing it over the past 3 weeks and I think that says a lot! The only difference is that sometimes I add in an eyeliner but other than that, this has been the look I've been wearing. Since a new season is right around the corner, I've been experimenting with new makeup looks to prep myself for my upcoming summer holiday. This summer, I decided to go all out with the colour orange after being obsessed with the Vely Vely single eyeshadow in the shade Sunset G, which is a gorgeous orange with gold glitter. Digging the whole orange makeup look, I decided to pop by Colourpop, because I know that with their wide range of eyeshadow shades, I will definitely be able to find what I want.
I ended up getting more than I should to entitle myself for the free shipping, so in today's post, I will be sharing with you a review of what I got, as well as my Orange Summer makeup look I have created using the products from Colourpop!
Starting with the eyeshadows, I've picked myself the 1. No Biggie Eyeshadow Palette. This eyeshadow palette comes in a rather flimsy-looking plastic packaging, but for the price, I'd say it's decent since it also comes with a mirror, and it's very lightweight and slim which is great for travelling with. This eyeshadow palette isn't "orange-themed", but I decided to get it anyway because I thought the shades are very versatile as they will be suitable for any occasions.
There are a total of 2 matte shades, a light coral pink shade and a dark burnt sienna shade. One champagne pink shimmer shade, as well as a warm gold glitter. I have yet to use this palette on my eyes, but I'm definitely digging how glittery the gold is and I can definitely mix it with my orange eyeshadows to create a glitter-bomb sunset look. I must say though that there were quite a number of fall outs from the glitter eyeshadow, so make sure to tap the excess off if you're using a brush.
Moving on, it's not a Colourpop haul if you don't get their super shock eyeshadows, so in this haul, I've got two of them! The first one is called 2. Flipperwhich is a soft tangerine with metallic sliver glitter. I thought this is a good metallic twist to my warm Sunset G eyeshadow, and surprisingly it's a very wearable shade because of how soft it looks on top of my lids. I think this is the perfect shade to highlight your aegyo-sal, or just spam all over your lids for that iridescent glow.
The second super shock eyeshadow is 3. Twitterpatedwhich is pretty much a pink version of Flipper. It also has hints of oranges in it which makes it the perfect peachy metallic shade. This eyeshadow really reminds me of mermaids and thus, the sea, and thus, summer.
These super shock eyeshadows are soft and fluffy to touch, so I definitely recommend using your fingers instead of a brush to prevent fall outs.
My final eyeshadow in this haul is 4. Bratty which is a stunning matte, bright, orange pressed powder eyeshadow. I got this eyeshadow together with the case so I can carry it with me in my makeup pouch and again, for $1, I think the case is decent, though, kinda flimsy looking. This eyeshadow is super pigmented and smooth and I think it is exactly what I was looking for.
After seeing countless of Youtubers rave about Colourpop's 5. No Filter Concealer, I finally decided to get my hands on not one, but two of them! I deliberately got both in Light 18, which is probably 3 shades lighter than my skin tone, because I wanted something that will significantly brighten up my under eye area as that's the spot where I apply concealer the most. I am extremely satisfied with this shade because it doesn't look unnatural, and the formula of this concealer is so creamy and smooth that it blends out so evenly without creasing throughout the day. It also has a high coverage which is good news to those who are seeking a concealer to cover up any spots or scars.
You also can't call it a Colourpop haul if you don't get their lip products, so my final two products in this haul are lip products! The moment I got onto Colourpop's website, I noticed that they have launched this new type of lipstick called the Lux Lipstick, and they come in this adorable, trendy-looking rose gold packaging with stars on it! Unable to resist them, I decided to try out their 6. Lux Lipstick in the shade Reverie. I wanted something I'd wear loads during this summer, but at the same time something that's not too out of my comfort zone.
Most of the shades in the Lux Lipstick collection are either very nude or brownish, or they're in crazy colours like blue, purple and green. I decided to go with Reverie because it's more towards the natural, pinky side, but it also has hints of orange in it, which you guys should know is my main colour theme for this summer. This lipstick glides on smoothly, and as you can see from the swatch, it's very pigmented and has a creamy matte finish. It also contains a blend of natural ingredients to provide ample hydration to your lips, as well as protect them from environmental factors. I think this lip colour is still a little too loud for everyday use, therefore I only use a light layer and it's more than sufficient to brighten up my complexion and add a pop of colour to my lips.
The very last lip product is Colourpop's 7. Ultra Satin Lip in the shade Felix. Staying true to my orange obsession, I just had to pick at least one bright orange lippie. The warmth in the shade orange makes it really easy to match my wam skintone, but because I'm a medium, I can't wear pale, or light coloured lipstick. The shade Felix caught my attention as I think it's one that will go well with my medium skin tone. The Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip is very pigmented, as all of the products from Colourpop, creamy, and I love that it's not completely matte as I have dry lips and matte lipsticks tend to highlight the cracks in my lips.
So those are the products in my humble Colourpop haul, using majority of the products mentioned, I have created an Orange Summer Makeup look suitable for any summer parties, events, dates, basically any occasion happening this summer!

Review: Tartelette In Bloom Amazonian Clay Palette (+ swatches!)

My first eyeshadow palette review for 2018 was a glitter-packed one, suitable for year end parties, and night outs. But now that spring is upon us, it means that it's time to chuck aside our festive, glittery eyeshadows, and dark lippies. Today, I'm doing my second eyeshadow palette review of the year, and coincidentally, it is one that ties in with this spring season. It is not a newly released eyeshadow palette, but it's the latest addition to my collection.
As usual, we begin with the packaging talk. I love the packaging of this eyeshadow palette. Technically, it isn't anything complicated or special, but I love the print on the front that looks like a bunch of different coloured flower petals stacked together. The packaging also feels very sturdy, and it comes with a full-sized mirror (aka a mirror that covers the entire area of the flip side of the cover)!
I've always enjoyed products from Tarte because I find that all of their products are high quality, and honestly I own many products from Tarte and there's not a single one that I dislike. That said, this palette contains Amazonian Clay-infused eyeshadows which makes them silky smooth, pigmented, easily blendable, and long-wearing. There are a total of 12 warm shades in this palette, arranged in 3 rows that creates 3 different looks for you to choose from everyday! Each row contains only one shimmer shade and three matte shades, so you don't go OTT on those glitters.
Since I have warm skin, the moment I saw the shades, I knew that they were going to work well for my skin tone. My favourite shades are Firecracker, which is a medium bronze shimmer. Activist, a chocolate matte shade. Funny Girl, a versatile and must-have champagne glitter. Leader, a dark matte maroon brown, and Jetsetter, a cool light brown that'd be perfect for contouring or defining the crease.
I think this eyeshadow palette is perfect for beginners as I find that the arrangement of the shades really provides a good guide to create basic, everyday looks. Since most of the colours included are eyeshadow-must-have-shades such as browns, gold, bronze, and champagne, I think this will also be a great starter 'kit' for those attempting to try out eyeshadows.
