Review: EGGIE's Back To School Collection 2018 - Selma Top and Sunny Days Jumper
Thursday, 23 August 2018 at August 23, 2018
After going through a bad experience with Jenn Im's clothing line, EGGIE, I uploaded a blog post and video explaining what I went through during my first order with them and surprisingly both blog post and video has gotten quite a number of attention and love! After the views started increasing steadily, EGGIE actually contacted me and gifted me a $150 gift card, a few weeks after their Summer drop where I bought the Amalie top. I really wanted to get a few more tops from the Summer collection like the Helena Top and Bella Blouse, but both were out of stock for my size and sadly, they never went back in stock. :(
I decided to keep the gift card until her next drop so finally, she launched her Back To School collection! Frankly speaking, there weren't a lot of pieces I like in this new collection as compared to her previous collections, mainly because most of the styles are kinda boyish and sporty, while I'm definitely more of a girly type of gal. I also felt like most of the pieces will be more suitable for her younger audiences and not so much for working adults like myself, hence, back to school. It also doesn't help that we don't have fall here in Singapore.
Furthermore, I find that most of the pieces are very overpriced as I only had $150 which, seems like a lot, but I could only get a maximum of approximately 3 pieces with $150. I was considering getting the Pax Hoodie as I love wearing hoodies and it looked really cosy and comfy, but it's a whopping US$42! I'd rather get this BT21 TATA hoodie that BTS Taehyung wore... There's honestly not much to contemplate since there were only a few pieces that I like, so ultimately, I settled on two tops from the new collection and one pair of bottoms from the previous collection. The total added up to $152 including the $10 fixed shipping rate, so I did top up the additional US$2.
The tops I decided to go with are the Selma Top, which immediately caught my eye because I've been digging the square neckline trend, and the Sunny Days jumper which, also caught my attention almost immediately because I love yellow clothes! I actually had second thoughts about the sweater after I placed my order, so I e-mailed them immediately (few hours after I submitted my order) to cancel it. They replied me a day later (due to time differences) and unfortunately they couldn't make any changes to my order as it was already processed (which I believe means "shipped"). On one hand, I think it's fantastic that my order was being processed so quickly, but on the other, I think it's quite inconvenient that we have to be 100% sure about our order before we submit it. I actually placed an order on Romwe a few days before, and a few hours after I placed that order, I noticed that I've mistakenly ordered two of the same top! I e-mailed Romwe and they were able to remove that item from my order and refund me which was a lifesaver! Of course I wouldn't blame them on my mistake, but I just felt like it would be better to allow changes to be made for fickle-minded people like myself.
Shipping was really quick this time round as I placed my order on Friday and it arrived on the following Monday! As usual, it came with an EGGIE pouch with a "THANKS BABY" card in it. Previously, I stated how I felt like the pouch is redundant, but I noticed that the pouch is bigger this time round which I think is not too bad since you'll now be able to fit in a decent amount of toiletries or some makeup products in it.
Alrighty, so without further ado, let's talk about the pieces I got. Starting with the Selma Top, like I mentioned, this one caught my attention immediately because of the square neckline, and since I'm more of a girly girl, the ruffles and little bow at the front really appealed to my style! I thought this top is extremely overpriced because it looks very basic, similar to the Bella Blouse from the previous collection. But the Bella Blouse costs $32 while this one is $42!
What I like about this top is that the material feels quite thick, unlike those basic tops I get from Ezbuy, Romwe, or Shein. I live for high-waisted bottoms, so I love that this top has a good length! It's not too crop so you can pair it with high-waisted things without tucking it in but at the same time, you won't be flashing any skin which makes this perfect for work environments or family gatherings. Overall I think this is a super cute top that can be worn for any occasion, and since it's very basic, you'll be able to easily pair it with any bottoms.
Moving on to the Sunny Days jumper, what I love about this jumper is the high neckline, bell-sleeves and bright yellow. I had second thoughts about this jumper because I started thinking about the ultra-long sleeves and I wasn't sure if I'm that fond of it. Previously, I also bought the Spot Top which also has ultra-long sleeves and it gets annoying at times because they always get in the way. But since I couldn't cancel this order, I just had to go along with it.
To my surprise, this jumper is actually quite thick (for Singapore) and heavy. It looked very flowy in the photos so I assumed it was going to be a lightweight breezy jumper. Thankfully, it's cropped and non-fitted, so you'll still be able to get some air ventilation going. One thing I noticed is that the ends of the sleeves are different from the photos on Eggie's website! As you can see, mine is folded and sewn in place while the sleeves on the promotion photos are not. I prefer mine as I think it gives it a more casual and neater look. I will most definitely wear this often when I'm editing at Starbucks or to work (my work dress code is casual, so wearing crop tops x high waisted pants is okay!) where I'm always cold!
Overall, I'm rather disappointed with this collection and I think it's because I felt like the previous two collections has been amazing and so I was probably expecting more. The pieces were very unique and innovative with all the detachable bits, but unfortunately it just doesn't appeal to my style. Like mentioned, I also got a pair of bottoms from the previous collection and I've included all 3 pieces in a lookbook (including some other pieces I got recently from elsewhere), so if you're keen to watch my lookbook, make sure you're subscribed to my Youtube channel!
Re-creating BTS 방탄소년단 Kim Taehyung 김태형 / V 뷔 Outfits!
Friday, 13 July 2018 at July 13, 2018
To date, I have done quite a number of lookbooks, fashion try-on hauls and styling videos on Youtube. I've always been interested in fashion and I love expressing myself through the clothes I wear. My favourite style in general is K-fashion and most of the time I like wearing casual and chic outfits while paying attention to small details like the print, texture, or cutting. From time to time, I also like wearing a pop of colour or something with loud and bold prints, so when it comes to fashion, I have a number of Korean celebrities I like to take fashion inspirations from because I think our fashion style is pretty close, and that includes f(x)'s Krystal, Blackpink's Jennie, and BTS's Taehyung.
When I create outfits for myself that are inspired by K-idols, it can be a complete dupe or replica of their outfit (especially for airport fashion where it's more casual and suitable for me), or it can be the overall vibe of it, or the colour palette they've gone with (for magazine shoots outfits, or stage outfits). As you all know, K-idols are heavily sponsored by luxury or designer clothing brands, so for today's blog post, I thought it'd be nice to share with you how I attempt to re-create 5 outfits worn by BTS's Taehyung (also known as V) without breaking the bank!
To help me complete this task, I have approached Ezbuy to work with me on this because 1. if you don't already know, I'm a very frequent Ezbuyer, 2. I think Ezbuy is perfect for this mission because the selection and choices are endless! You will also be able to find everything you need from clothes, to jewelry, to bags, hats, shoes, all in one place. And finally 3. Ezbuy is a great place if you're looking for affordable, yet trendy pieces. If you're into Korean cosmetics and products, Ezbuy is also a great place to find authentic Korean cosmetics and even food! *Sign up to Ezbuy now using my link here and get a S$10 voucher!
Alright, so without further ado, let's start with outfit number one which is Taehyung's stage outfit for Comeback Show.
Despite being a stage outfit, this outfit is extremely simple to put together. The highlight of this outfit is definitely his face the boxy, oversized black polo tee with white collar, therefore I was thrilled to be able to find a similar piece on Ezbuy! The two-toned denim jeans made the entire outfit look casual, and we can't forget his single long chain earring which he wore so very often during this period!
The polo shirt Taehyung wore has long sleeves, but mine is short which I like, since I live in Singapore where it's hot and humid all the time. I have a pair of two-toned denim jeans, but because I'm short and the top is already oversized and boxy looking, I decided to switch it out for a pair of high-waisted denim shorts instead to elongated my legs. To complete the look, I've also gotten a pair of his chain earrings and to show off my earrings, I have tied my hair up into a ponytail and I think it really complimented this whole casual look.
Airport photos are the best to take fashion inspirations from because that's where you'll see idols in outfits they've styled on their own. So for outfit number two, I've went with this outfit Taehyung wore at the airport.
Needless to say, the highlight of this outfit is the clashing pattern prints. I have never thought of pairing gingham with florals but, for this blog post, I thought it will be fun to try out something out of my comfort zone!
Because I'm short, I tend to go towards high-waisted bottoms to elongate my legs, so instead of a mid-rise gingham trousers, I chose to go for this high-waisted gingham pants. For my blouse, I've chosen something with a feminine silhouette instead of the classic button-down style seen on Taehyung. I chose to ditch the necktie he was wearing because this clashing print is already too much for me to handle, and also because my blouse already has a pretty neckline.
My next outfit is from a magazine shoot as I wanted to get outfits inspirations from different places.
This outfit is again, another easy outfit to put together and I chose this one because Taehyung is very often seen rocking a striped, oversized button-down and pants. This combination looks semi-formal because of the black trousers, but at the same time it's a little laid-back and chic due to the fun colours and bagginess of the top.
To recreate this outfit, I simply went with this fun, pink striped blouse for girls. This top has a light material which seems similar to the ones Taehyung is often seen wearing. To complete the outfit, I simply paired it with a pair of black jeans. This outfit is definitely something I'd wear often because I love the oversized shirt x jeans combo!
The fourth outfit is an outfit Taehyung wore during an interview and I decided to re-create this look because I think it reflects Taehyung's style very well too.
The entire outfit is just black, but it has a few special points about it. First up is the mix of casual and formal pieces. Obviously, the formal piece is the black blazer which instantly makes the outfit pop, otherwise, it'll just look super casual with his black baggy T-shirt and wide-legged pants. Secondly, this outfit is topped with a new's boy cap (but it looks like a beret when it wear it the other way round), which gives the entire outfit a touch of Parisian feel. He is also wearing his chain earrings in this one so I like I that can use my earrings for two outfits.
I already have a black blazer and a black t-shirt at home because they are a wardrobe essential. So to complete this look, all I needed was that wide-legged pants with white stripe on the side, and a beret. If you're an ARMY, I'm sure you've seen the Ellioti beret around because Taehyung has worn it like three times maybe? I found a dupe for the Ellioti beret on Ezbuy so naturally I just went for it. These stripe pants are so easy to find on Ezbuy because they are so trendy at the moment.
The final outfit is one of my favourite outfits Taehyung has worn in a music video and it is this striking one from DNA music video!
The highlight of this outfit for me is the gorgeous royal blue hoodie. I love the whole "jersey" and sporty vibe going on as well as the overall red, blue and white colour palette.
To re-create this look, the first thing I sourced for was a blue hoodie. This is a cheapest one I could find that matches the whole colour palette and sporty vibe of the outfit! Taehyung wore a pair of long white pants with black stripes on the sides, but again, because I'm very short, I didn't want to drown myself in an oversized hoodie and baggy pants. So to make this work for me, I have chosen to go along with a pair of white shorts instead. I found this pair of white casual shorts with black stripes on the sides so it's literally just a "shorts version" of Taehyung's pants.
So those are my Taehyung-inspired outfits! I'm not gonna lie, it was quite a challenge to try and re-create Taehyung's outfits to make them work for myself. But overall, I'm really proud and happy of the outfits I've created and I had so much fun doing this! I'm hoping to do more so let me know if you wish to see me re-create any other idols' outfits!

Hence, I've created 4 Korean inspired looks that I think matches different personalities and style.
All 4 looks are created only using products from Korean brand, Chosungah22. Chosungah22 was found by professional Korean make-up artiste Cho Sung-Ah whose vision was to create make-up products that are simple and fun. I was really attracted to their products at first sight due to the extremely loud and funky packaging, and now it is safe to say that I have fallen in the love with the brand due to the high quality and innovative products they offer.
Chosungah22 is available exclusively at SASA Singapore and together, we will be giving away a Chosungah22 mystery bag worth up to S$100! To enter the giveaway, all you have to do is:-
And that's it! Winners will be announced via the comments thread over at their facebook page.
So now, are you ready to pick your own style? Watch the tutorial video here!
1st Look: Playful and Flirty
The 1st look is highly inspired by my favourite K-pop celebrities. This look is still very suitable for an everyday wear but it is much more playful, flirty and energetic. The perfect look to hit the stage with!
2nd Look: Natural Everyday Look
The second look is going to be an everyday look. I noticed many Koreans tend to go for this look on an everyday basis. This look is suitable for day time during the weekdays as it is simple yet it helps to slightly enhance our features. This look mainly focuses on peachy cheeks, slightly defined eyes and a pop of colour on the lips.
3rd Look: Smokey and Chic
This 3rd look is a smokey version of the first look I've created. This was also highly inspired by my favourite Kpop stars when they wear a smokey eye look. The dark eyeshadows and wine coloured lips makes this the perfect sultry, smokey look.
4th Look: Summery and Bright
The final look is a bright, summery and fun look, even though it's autumn now, if you're staying in Singapore like me, this look will be suitable all year round. Personally, I think this would make a great music festival look too!
I've always heard of Taobao, and I actually ordered once from Taobao when I was in Secondary school but it took like a month or more than that to arrive. Plus, I suck in Chinese, so I've never ordered from them since.
Few weeks ago, my Sis introduced me to the Ezbuy app and it was a dream come true. Ezbuy is basically an agent and so you get to buy things from Taobao as well as other online stores via Ezbuy and honestly... It was so much easier to get it through Ezbuy especially if you can't be bothered to convert the currency yourself and also translate the language if you suck in Chinese too.
I was really surprised because there were so many pretty clothes at really cheap prices (most of my buys were less than $10!)! Shipping was really cheap as well and, it only took about a week to arrive! I also like how there are a ton of collection points to choose from so it is super convenient, I always opt for the self-collection as that is FOC! I hate missing the mailman so this definitely cancels out the possibility. So far, I've ordered two batches of tops so here's a try-on haul for you guys! Prices stated are in SGD and excluding shipping.
